Interested in being photographed? Whether you are a model with years of experience or simply thinking about it for the first time, here are some answers to common questions.
Am I suitable to model? Yes, you definately are. Naturally, being beautiful will help you if you want a modelling career, but anybody can pose in front of a camera.
What do I get if I model for you? Aspiring models who do 'Time For Photos' (TFP) will receive images for their portfolio. Established models who don't need photos will be paid for their services. Non-models will receive a copy of their images.
What style photos do you take? Any style you're comfortable with including portrait, fashion, art, glamour, editorial, bikini/lingerie, dance, fitness/lifestyle, cosplay, nude etc
Do you expect me to go nude? Absolutely not. While you will see tasteful nudes on this site showing the human body as art, nudity is not expected. It is solely your choice.
if you did, wouldn't you be happy to do so in front of a blind person anyway? LOL
What should I wear? Bring a range of clothing, shoes and accessories to achieve different looks. I may ask you to bring certain clothing items, or have them sourced for you, to meet a certain style and look. Clothing can range from haute couture, evening or day, swimwear, lingerie, dance/gym wear or costume.
Who owns the images? Models will be asked to sign a model release acknowledging the photograper as the copyright owner and to grant image use rights. If you want to own the images and determine how they are used, you are seeking commissioned work which requires payment for my services as a photographer.
Where and when will the shoot take place? Shoots will occur at mutually agreed locations and times and may be indoors (e.g. studio) or outdoors (e.g. beach, park, street scene). I don't have a car, so some locations may be difficult for me to get to.
What should I bring? You should bring anything appropriate to make a good photo including clothing, accessories, makeup, heads pieces, props etc. Your are also welcome to bring a partner, relative or friend along to the shoot.
Who will do my hair and make-up? If you can easily do this yourself, that's great. For some shoots a hair and make-up artist will be sourced, and may incur costs.
What are your TFP terms? TFP should benefit both parties. You will receive a CD of all images at web resolution (about 700 pixels on the long side) for personal use. These may have a discrete watermark along the bottom. You will also receive your choice of up to 10 full resolution images on CD, or four un-watermarked prints up to 12x18" in size, per every 2 hours of shoot time (e,g, a four hour shoot = 20 full resolution images or 8 prints). I will let you choose your own images for the CD or prints.
What about your fee-for-shoot terms? Terms will be agreed prior to the shoot including rates, times, minimum hours, style and location. As you are being paid and not doing TFP you should not expect to receive images. Paid models are expected to work professionaly towards meeting the shoot objectives (i.e. the brief).
Are these terms negotiable? Absolutely, anything is possible within reason. Just ask.
